G'Day Eh?!
I have been retired since 1991 and I am enjoying every moment of life. Previously I worked for the National Research Council in the Division of Microstructures, working in the field of Semiconductor Characterization
which involved expertise in the fields of Electronics, Cryogenics, High Vacuum, Optics, Lasers and Software Programming. For 13 years I Volunteered at the National Aviation Museum
in the Electronics and Audio/Visual Shop. Most of the work here involved designing digital and analog circuits, and developing program software for microcontrollers and audio storage
chips, and mini computers called Raspberry Pi's used in various audio and video displays within the Museum. I was doing this approximately 12-15 hrs per week. After a 5 year hiatus I am now back again at the Museum doing 9-11 hours a week.
This past few years I have been involved with writing up my family history and had it published in September 2006. I am also the project administrator for the Kettles surname DNA Project. This hopefully will tie together some of the elusive Kettles lines that have stumped me in my genealogical research of the family.
My other interests involve Dowsing, Mediums, Formula 1 racing , Curling, Unlimited Hydroplane racing and Air Shows.
I enjoy listening to music, mainly soft rock, some new age and 50's R&R, artists include, Vangelis, Enya, Fleetwood, Kitaro, Adams and CCR just to name a few. Of course the Pipes are always welcomed especially the Triumph Street, Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police, SFU and a little local band the Sons of Scotland.
As a good Scot I make my own Haggis to celebrate St. Andrews Day and Robbie Burns Day. My interest in reading turns too such authors as Craig Thomas, Ben MacIntyre, Louise Penny, Giles Blunt, James Patterson,
Lee Child, Pierre Berton (his historical stuff), Richard Rohmer and anything on the CF105 Arrow.
. During the summer it is the time to take in a number of Highland Games that are held in the Ottawa area. In the winter I look forward to escape South for a month
visiting such countries as Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Mexico, Morocco, Turkey, Thailand, Peru, Brazil, China, Equador and Guatemala
